The ARFA formed in May 2006 when a group of work colleagues formed a division of 6 for the inaugural campaign, before the league expanded the following season to 2 divisions of 6 and a cup competition was played for the first time. The league has taken many shapes over the years but none more so than when 5 other leagues merged into the ARFA for the start of season 27, enabling 6 divisions of 10 to be created.
